Case Study: Cape Kidnappers

Cape Kidnappers is nestled on a spectacular headland in beautiful Hawke’s Bay. Owned by Julian Robertson the course is the highest rated course in New Zealand - ranked 41st in the world (by Golf Magazine). Cape Kidnappers is the home of the Kiwi Challenge, won in 2009 by Anthony Kim.

  • Irrigation system designed by Parkland’s design engineers.
  • Installation started December 2002 and completed in April 2003
  • Controlled by Toro Network LTC satellites and SitePro central controller
  • First course in New Zealand to use Toro Prism Pocket PC for field control
  • 1,411 Toro 800S series sprinklers installed
  • 245 km of control wire
  • 40 kms of pipe work
  • Water sourced from bores approximately 7kms away. Pumped to a 150,000 cubic metre storage dam then pumped on to the course
