Case Study: Kauri Cliffs Golf Course

Architect & Project Manager:
The late David Harman, Golf Course Consultants

Owned by Julian Robertson and arguably the best known resort course in New Zealand, Kauri Cliffs has holes that are played alongside cliffs which plunge dramatically into the sea. Other holes are spread throughout marsh, forest and farmland. And of course, there is the stunning clubhouse with panoramic views. Voted Best New International Golf Course 2001 beating 600 contenders worldwide for the honour.

  • Irrigation system designed by Parkland’s design engineers
  • Installation and construction completed in 1999
  • PGA standard construction
  • Controlled by Site-Pro computer with hand-held radio field control
  • LTC satellite system with weather station
  • All Toro 700 series (730s and 760s) valve-in-head sprinklers throughout the course
  • The landscape areas around the clubhouse and resort also feature Toro irrigation equipment

“Of all the jobs I’ve worked on around the world, Parkland’s irrigation project at Kauri Cliffs was the neatest.”
