Case Study: Pegasus

Architect: Kristine Kerr (formerly Boffa Miskell)

Pegasus is a new town under construction 45 minutes north of Christchurch. This picturesque 18-hole championship length course which opened in 2009 is the gateway to the Pegasus Town development. Pegasus was master-planned by Francis Whitaker of Mason & Wales, and was designed by leading landscape architect Boffa Miskell in collaboration with Greg Turner.

  • Irrigation system for the course and surrounding landscape was designed by Parkland’s engineers
  • Installation commenced November 2007 and was completed December 2009
  • Controlled by Toro SitePro which controls GDC decoders
  • Hand held radio in field control
  • Weather station
  • Grundfos pump station with interface into the Toro SitePro controller
  • Otterbine lake aeration
  • 850 Toro 700 and 800S series sprinklers on greens and fairways
    • 835S full circle/part circle sprinklers used on edges of fairways and against lake edges to conserve water
    • All individually controlled
  • 300 Toro 725 sprinklers on tees individually controlled
  • 7,100 m mainline PVC and 38,000m of MDPE laterals
